Getting Started
01
Whether you're brand new to therapy or returning after some time away, this is a good place to start. These are the questions people usually have before reaching out or scheduling their first appointment.
-
That' doesn’t mean therapy isn’t for you.
Sometimes it’s timing. Sometimes it’s the wrong approach. Sometimes it’s simply not the right therapist.
Therapy is a relationship and fit matters. You deserve a space where you feel understood, challenged and safe enough to be honest.
-
That’s completely okay. Many people feel unsure about where to begin. Part of my job is helping guide the conversation in a way that feels safe and manageable.
You don’t have to have everything figured out before starting therapy.
-
FInding the right therapist often comes down to feeling comfortable, understood and supported. Research consistently shows that the relationship between therapist and client is one of the most important parts of successful therapy.
My style of therapy is real, direct and focused on what matters most to you. I bring warmth, humor, honesty and a willingness to gently challenge the patterns that keep people stuck.
The best way to know if we’d be a good fit is usually a consultation call.
Insurance & Fees
02
Let's get the practical stuff out of the way first. Here you'll find information about insurance, fees, payment options, and the questions people most commonly ask about the financial side of therapy.
-
Yes, I am In Network with multiple commercial insurance plans including
Aetna, Cigna, Carelon, United Healthcare, Regence Blue Shield, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Premera and Quest.
-
You may still be able to use out of network benefits and receive partial reimbursement for therapy, if your plan allows.
I will provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance company. Please check your specific coverage with your insurance.
Some clients choose to pay privately (self-pay) rather than use insurance, which allows for greater privacy and flexibility in treatment as many insurance companies can place limits on care.
-
A standard 53-minute individual therapy session is $175. Payment is due at the time of session for all self-pay and out-of-network services.
-
I partner with Headway to manage all of my billing, claims and insurance verification.
You are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate outlining the expected costs for your care under the No Suprises Act.
You’ll receive this information before our first session and can request an updated estimate at any time.
I also recommend that you reach out directly to your insurance provider to verify benefits as well.
Scheduling & Logistics
03
The details that help things run smoothly. From appointment availability and telehealth sessions to cancellations and communication between sessions, you'll find the nuts and bolts here.
-
If you’re interested in working together, the next step is scheduling a free 15 minute consultation or initial appointment.
You can schedule with me through Headway, by clicking “Get Started”
Before your first session, I’ll run your insurance benefits (if you’re using them"), send intake paperwork to complete before and answer any remaining questions.
-
Yes. I am licensed to provide therapy to clients who are physically located in Washington State at the time of their session.
If you travel frequently or have questions about your location or eligibility for telehealth sessions, feel free to reach out and we can discuss what might work best.
-
All of my sessions are conducted online through a secure telehealth platform, allowing adults across Washington state to access therapy from the comfort of their own home or another private location.
-
I ask for at least 48 hours’ notice for cancelations or schedule changes whenever possible.
Because I keep a fairly limited schedule and reserve that time specifically for you, late cancellations or missed appointments may be charged the full session fee.
Even if you’re giving notice within that 48-hour window, last-minute rescheduling can be difficult. My availability is often booked out in advanced, so I’m usually not able to offer short notice alternative appointments that same week.
If something unexpected comes up, please reach out — I understand that life happens. I’ll always do my best to work with you when I can.
Privacy & Confidentiality
04
Your privacy matters. These questions cover how your information is protected, the limits of confidentiality, and what you can expect when it comes to keeping your personal information secure.
-
Sessions are conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform designed to protect your privacy.
I also take necessary steps to ensure sessions are held in a confidential setting on my end.
Your records are stored securely and protected according to professional and legal privacy standards. Only information necessary for providing care and billing is maintained
-
Yes — with a few legal and ethical exceptions related to safety, abuse or court orders.
As a mandated reported, I am legally obligated to report any suspected concerns for the abuse, neglect or exploitation of a minor or vulnerable adult. I am also bound to report any imminent threats to the safety of you or someone else.
Outside of those situations, what you share in therapy stays in therapy.
-
No. Your therapy is private and confidential.
I do not communicate with employers unless you specifically request and authorize it in writing.
-
This is a common question — especially for healthcare professionals, first responders, military service members, pilots and others in high-responaibility or highly regulated professions.
For most people, simply attending therapy does not put your professional license at risk. Therapy is confidential and seeking support is often a sign of responsibility, not liability.
That said, some professions have unique licensing boards, fit-for-duty standards, security clearances or employment policies that can create understandable concern.
Because of this some clients choose to pay privately rather than use insurance as it offers an added layer of privacy. Some people simply feel more comfortable keeping that information outside of employer sponsored insurance systems.
If there is something you are worried about, we can talk through your specific concerns so you can make an informed decision that feels right for you.
